As developers ourselves, we understand the challenges developers face. That's why we focused on creating Karsarsoft Status, a tool that addresses your needs and enhances your work experience. Here are a few challenges we know you have experienced or will experience in software development.
- Requirements/Acceptance Criteria changing while working on a task or a task you have upcoming
- Requirements not listed in acceptance criteria added as bugs you must have forgotten
- Requirements that can't be worked on because they don't have enough detail
- Getting blocked on your progress because of items out of your control and being blamed for taking too long to complete your work
- Massive list of requirements that make it difficult to track what's completed and what's not
- Not being able to modify acceptance criteria even though you must because of the defined requirements necessitates a change or additional work
- Trying to figure out what you have to work on next and your progress in completing sprint work
When building KS Status, we considered these challenges and many more. We were frustrated with the existing tools on the market, which do a poor job of understanding how we work. To address the main concerns in this blog post, we implemented the following features in KS Status to ensure a streamlined experience when working on projects using KS Status. Check out these features focused on your productivity and peace of mind.
- We separated the task of defining work from the process of completing it because they are two discrete processes - work in process is read-only by default to stop the change churn
- Requirements are separated and clearly defined, preventing any questions about what's included in a user story
- Acceptance criteria that aren't clear can be disputed and tracked in the application, showing all the history and comments
- Blockers are first-class citizens in KS Status; being blocked on completed stories is tracked and highlighted
- Each acceptance criteria/requirement is itemized, and its status is tracked individually; leaving for the day, coming back to work the next day, and forgetting where you left off is a thing of the past
- While work item requirements are initially read-only, you can still modify and add requirements as needed; just be careful not to add too many items to affect your estimate
- You have a distinct view to manage your work items and their statuses in an easy-to-understand prioritized list
These are just a few features we wanted you to know about. KS Status's mission is to ensure that your experience managing your work is simple, enjoyable, and efficient. Our goal is to make you as successful as possible.
